For example, if you were a plumber in Los Angeles, would it make sense to optimize for the keyword "Plumber Los Angeles"? No, because too few people search on that keyword each month (only 180 searches in June '09). The keyword "Plumber" however, had 51,801 searches in one month. Yes, that is a valuable keyword, but to optimize for that keyword, our Plumber would have to rank nationally and compete with every plumber that has a website in the United States. Unrealistic? Absolutely! Expensive? Extremely!
